| Facets is held annually in Colombo since 1991, Facets Sri Lanka made an exciting new beginning in September 2005 when the show moved to a smart new venue, the BMICH Exhibition and Convention Centre in Colombo. Exhibitors increased by more than 50 percent and the show took on a whole new professional and international atmosphere, with smart new booths displaying a greater variety of fine gemstones and exquisite jewellery. To give the show an international flavour, producers and wholesalers from the main gemstone producing countries in Africa, Asia, South America and Australia are being invited to exhibit their gemstone products at the show. |

FACETS Sri Lanka - 2011 [International Gem And Jewellery Show]
More than 5000 visitors flocked at the BMICH exhibition and convention center over the weekend of 3-8 September to pick up their favorite gemstones and well designed jewellery direct from the source at the annual FACETS Sri Lanka 2011, international gem and jewellery show.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the Show Hon. Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Minister of Enterprise Development and Investment Promotion said that the FACETS Show was an important even for Sri Lanka to showcase our products and encourage business as it explores better trade ties with emerging Asian countries such as China and Myanmar.
Dr. Sarath Amunugama, Ministers A.H.M.Fowzie, Mano Wijeratne and diplomats were among the distinguished guests at the event.At 'FACETS Sri Lanka 2008' more than one hundred and fifty booths displayed products from local, international as well as new entrants to the industry. Leading industry representatives from Hong Kong, Thailand, Myanmar, Singapore and an important business delegation from China was also present.
A walk along the isles of the two exhibition halls proved to be a truly unforgettable experience. In Hall" A" buyers discovered a glittering array of the most beautiful and colorful gemstones, and Hall "B" exhibited jewellery where visitors were dazzled by exquisite craftsmanship and stunning designs. The exhibition was open to the public and discerning buyers found this an ideal opportunity to source their bridal jewellery, rare pieces of fine designs and to add to their collections of fine gems, conveniently under one roof.
At this year's exhibition visitors found more than 75 gem varieties that are found in Sri Lanka's gem rich soils. Some of these are Sapphires, Rubies, Alexandrites, Cats-eyes, Padparadscha, Ameythyst, Topaz, Zircons, Tourmalines, Garnets and Moonstones. The exhibition also showcased some of her best gem cutting and designer talent.
'FACETS Sri Lanka' is Sri Lanka's only international trade exhibition, which is featured, in the international calendar of events in the Gem and Jewellery Industry worldwide. The Show, which is organized, by the Sri Lanka Gem and Jewellery Association has been done for 19 years since its inception in 1991 has attracted more than a million buyers, sellers and visitors. |
